This app is free and never have I paid a dime to use it or make new mom friends from it. When I first downloaded it years ago; I never attempted at using it due to not being the most “tech savvy.” Now it’s one my favorite apps to use. Only regret? I wish I would have gotten into it sooner.
Not only can I find support during motherhood from it…it’s been beneficial towards my homeschooling journey. My son even loves it! He has been able to have more friends as an only child. My mood has even been way better as I have more positive things going on in my life when it comes to overall wellness. I have more friends and I am so much more happier.
The homeschooling group I am in on there is actually going on a field trip next month to an educational children’s museum. The children worked on sewing skills and learned more about planets last month. A trip to the science museum even happened while another amazing homeschooling mom with an infant too drove from another city to join.
Being a stay at home or full-time working mom can be lonely and feel overwhelming at times for some. Those pricey children’s sports and classes are wonderful; but I never made mom friends for lunch, coffee, or play dates from them I have noticed. Usually the parents at those spots all seem busy and just not hanging around at those sports practices for loads of chatting. Personally that’s my alone time to sit in the car and catch up on work emails.
My state has a lot of family-friendly events and restaurants that I have been wanting to check out. I find it a lot more fun attending craft fairs and movies now with moms who share similar interests. Especially for more walking motivation and those long park outings. At least now I can chat with an awesome woman over coffee while our children play. Sometimes the moms I meet on this app have children the same age as my child which helps…mine absolutely loves making new friends.
This free app is like a much like a dating site; but way better I think…and for moms! There are forums for advice and women host meet-up style parties and gatherings in some areas.
My calendar is now full of craft nights and cool “mom-and-me” type outings where I won’t need a babysitter. I love the “match-making” effect on this app although I joined mostly for finding playdates and homeschooling field trips. I just so happened to make really awesome mom friends too. Who would’ve thought? I used to be quite the introvert. Now I love going to the girls night out parties and the book and walking club I am in.
This app has even helped me get out my own comfort zone a bit. I am way more positive and friendlier now. It was a lot of stress being a stay at home mom without many friends as I am an only child. I am just used to hanging out alone and not socializing as much as I would like. I guess a lot of it was due to being shy or having a fear of meeting mean girls from bad experiences in the past.
Now I understand it’s okay to just get out a bit for an hour play date. It is nice to support other moms…no one is perfect! I have only met nice and caring moms from this helpful app. No one has been judgmental or mean; besides…even if I don’t “fit in” there are plenty of online-only groups while my child still gets to explore the city with me a bit more. I think about how hard it must be for hosts to hope someone shows up at their events they plan and want to help those moms out. Think about those children who have no one to attend their birthday parties. I want to be there for those moms because I know exactly how it feels.
I have even started hosting my own events even if only a few moms can attend. It’s not all about me; it’s about my child knowing how to be friendly and welcoming too. Most of all it is about those one or two new moms that may show up who really needed someone to talk to that day. You never know what someone is dealing with. Maybe they are overwhelmed with chores and being a new mom so that coffee date really helped brighten her day. Besides; I feel better leaving play dates making new friends.
Just this month alone I attended a moms night out event, brunch with some women who happened to live literally blocks away (we all didn’t know that beforehand), and quite a few indoor playground play dates. Another moms night out dinner is even coming up; the last one went really well I went to. It is so important for moms to get together here and there for positive conversation and making new friends.
This is a fantastic app for those looking for more support throughout motherhood or their pregnancy. Maybe you have a toddler who would benefit from a play group in your area. Too shy right now? There are virtual groups for literally every hobby or interest you can imagine. The recipe, craft, fitness, and reading ones are enjoyable for myself. A walking and book club in my area is just what I needed!
